Different structures: GRP lifesaving boats can be rigid structures and inflatable structures, or a combination of the two, with a length of not less than 3.8m and not more than 8.5m. The hull length of the fast rescue boat should be not less than 6.0m and not more than 8.5m, including inflatable structures or fixed fenders.

Different speeds: The rescue boat maneuvers at a speed of at least 6 knots and maintains that speed for at least 4 hours. The fast rescue boat is manoeuvred by a crew of 3 at a speed of at least 20kn in still water and maintained at that speed for at least 4 hours. Fully staffed and equipped with a minimum speed of 8 km.
